Former RAF base: Ground investigation, gas and groundwater monitoring, risk assessment and site verification

Discipline: Environmental Consultancy
Project: Ground Investigation & remedial strategy design
Location: North London
Client: National House Builder
Value: £45,000
Duration: 2 years

SUMMARY
The project involved the conversion of an existing listed building into apartments, the construction of a new apartment block with underground parking and the construction of new residential properties with private gardens. The project timescales extended between pre-purchase through to remedial verification post build.

SCOPE OF THE WORKS
T&P Regeneration undertook a review of the existing ground investigation to advise on the likely environmental issues associated with the site and produce budget costings prior to the purchase of the site. Post purchase of the site we entered into discussions with the regulators to agree the scope of the additional investigations, which included specialist laboratory testing to support site specific risk assessments for Arsenic and Chromium.

OUTCOME
Production of a combined interpretative ground investigation and proposed remedial strategy report incorporating the use of the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Code of Practice to maximise the re-use of site won material on site.

T&P Regeneration also successfully undertook verification of third party remedial works to discharge the related planning conditions.
