Background
A three-storey block of flats on Whatley Road in Clifton required a detailed roof inspection before any building works were undertaken. T&P Regeneration was commissioned to carry out an aerial survey to identify visible damage and areas requiring further attention. The survey provided a safe and efficient alternative to erecting scaffolding solely for the initial inspection.
Objectives
The objective of the project was to inspect the roof of the three-storey building and identify visible damage before any building works were planned. The survey was also intended to provide a clear digital record of the roof condition and allow areas of concern to be reviewed remotely without the need for scaffolding during the initial inspection.
Scope of Works
T&P Regeneration carried out an aerial survey of the roof using drone technology to capture detailed imagery of the building. The survey data was processed into a web-hosted 3D point cloud and aerial model, allowing the roof to be viewed and inspected remotely. The online model included inspection tools and annotated locations to highlight visible areas of damage and concern. The cloud platform also enabled the client to switch between 2D and 3D views, examine linked high-resolution photographs, and carry out measurements directly within the model.
Outcome
The aerial survey provided a clear digital record of the roof condition and identified visible areas requiring further attention before any building works were undertaken. The web-hosted 3D model, linked photographs and annotations allowed the client to review the roof remotely, reducing the need for scaffolding during the initial inspection and supporting more informed planning for any required repairs.
